Low carb diet reverse diabetes
Aha! A paper by the Unwins. Fantastic. Eight years of clinical experience is hard to argue with.
I liked they talked about the results not being able to say low-carb is superior and the solution, period. Things aren’t that simple and clear and it probably matters a lot if one actually is willing to do something to get better… Still, the results may encourage people on the fence. The ones who refuse to give up their precious carbs, won’t do it but at least the others won’t avoid a potentially better woe just because others are against it without a good enough reason.
Right after the article came another… Healthy food for diabetics… Apparently red meat and saturated fat is the enemy, all the big natural carb sources are the way, fruits aren’t free sugar so even very sugary ones are okay…
Ouch.
Roy Taylor - Newcastle University, the ‘Newcastle Diet,’ etc. - demonstrated that 800 calories per day, both on a special diet and not on one resulted in better blood glucose control and in some cases at least a temporary reversal of diabetes.
