How dementia robbed me of my love of cooking
Loves cake & now has dementia: someone please tell her
All personal speculation but thought I would share:
Dementia and Alzheimer’s is such a mysterious disease which looks to me like a leaky gut, brain blood barrier thing for viruses or bacteria that can get enveloped inside the amyloid plaque itself and accumulates from what ever source, that’s what amyloids supposedly do is attack viruses and bacteria that bypass this barrier but become over whelmed? According to the science the BBB becomes a thinner veil and easier for viruses and bacteria to bypass as we age!
Do hydrogenated trans fats have something to with this?
Besides healing a leaky gut through diet; could the problem be as simple as the quality of and combination of MCT oils medium-chain triglycerides that are more effective then others in anti-bacterial anti-viral properties and the ability of the oils to bypass the BBB to move the virus or bacteria out along with the plaque or possibly kill them besides the endogenous production of ketones from the diet and more sensible eating of Whole Foods excluding grains?
Footnotes:
[1] Coconut Oil for Alzheimer’s and Dementia: The Evidence (May 5, 2019): “…Coconut oil and the MCTs it contains are effective for Alzheimer’s and dementia. And using coconut oil regularly has a protective effect on brain health. …” …More
[2] Could the palm kernel oil (MCFAs) of these trees/shrubs (Attalea) hold the key to reversing Alzheimer’s and Dementia or preventing its progression and if so are their other species of MCFA (MCT oil) trees, shrubs or plants we don’t know exist or cared to investigate?
