Hi all I can’t seem to be losing anymore weight but either gaining a few ounces to a pound or staying right where I am. I calculate all my food. I’m 28 female 5”0 currently 164lbs. I use ketone strips which say I’m in ketosis I drink plenty of water everyday around 3-4 liters. I’m usually not to hungry in he morning so I skip breakfast or have a slice of cheese. Then for lunch imm have a sausage patty with green peppers and onions it has it minced in the patty by really a huge portion since I know onions and peppers have carbs. Umm have a slice of beef fried up with olive oil for dinner or even shirataki noodles with sauce and that’s about it. Any suggestions? Do you guys think I’m not getting enough fat? What can I do. My husband is doing the same hung as me and is also gaining. I don’t want him to give it because the scale isn’t going down please help thanks. Oh I forgot to mention yes I got the Keto Flu the 1st week terribile headaches very tired no energy.
Lost 9lbs in 2 weeks on keto and now gaining a pound or remaining the same weight
Your initial loss was glycogen. Your gain was water. Now you’ll be losing fat, over time. A one pound fat loss per week is reasonable.
You’re fine. Don’t weigh yourself again for at least two weeks. In the meantime, take pictures! You’ll really want them in a year. Also take body measurements, it’s the best way to track progress.
I am a bit older but my height and starting weight are just about the same as yours a few pounds more I lost 8 pounds the first week then nothing for a few weeks only inches . I switched to omad and it finally kicked start my weight loss just stick to it I promise it works and it comes with so many other awesome benefits as well .
Your post indicates a fairly rigid pattern of eating what and when. Our bodies are incredibly adaptable and will quickly find homeostasis unless you throw curve balls at it. Change things up. IF, EF, omad, carnivore, etc, etc. Take your pick. Just changing one thing might reset things and get the fat burning machine running again. Btw. The closer you get to goal weight the harder this gets for obvious reasons.
I have an up and down weight loss. I will remain the same for days, up half a pound, then I will suddenly lose 2-3 pounds it has been that way for weeks. I also do a lot of weight training so it is not real weight but water retaining in my muscles. My body just needs to catch up to all of the exercise that I do. As long as you are in a downward direction you should be fine. Oh, and I am also always in Ketosis and check my blood level most days; anywhere from 1.6 to as high as 2.8.
Melissa –
Sounds like you got off to a good start and are eating well. Keep doing what you’re doing. Make sure that you get enough to eat and not to under eat. Just keep it in the macros.
Another factor is this time of year can get very hot and humid and your water weight can really vary either way. For example, my weight varied eight pounds over this weekend. All because of water weight and humidity. You may not know how well you are doing with your weight loss. You might be doing great, but your body is holding on to extra water – and you think you’re not losing.
Good luck.
What week are you in - sounds like you are becoming fat adapted if your hunger has diminished?
What you describe is typical so don’t worry about it - so many benefits of this diet that you will discover besides weight loss. And weight loss isn’t linear nor is it the best indication. Take measurements. You may start to lose inches before the scale moves again.
The scale… “the lying liar who lies”
