Losing muscles

(Bella) #1

Hi,

After 2 weeks on keto I feel like im losing a little bit of my abs. There are less defined, and my belly feels larger. Is it possible ? I follow the diet strictly.

Hi,

No muscle loss is expected with a well formed ketogenic diet.

If you are restricting calories - then yes that’s expected.

With keto you should be eating plenty

Do you feel bloated? That might distend your stomach.

I’m not sure what you mean by “losing a little bit of my abs.” Do you mean they appear to be weaker and less solid, or do you mean that they are being covered up by fat?

In any case, to judge by your name, you are a woman, so I wouldn’t be surprised if you were bloating a little. It sometimes takes women a while for women to get started losing weight. Your hormones are a complicating factor. Where are you in your cycle? That could very well have something to do with it. Give this way of eating at least a few months before deciding it’s not for you. Sometimes a slow start is the best start.

Hi Bella. I would help to know where you started, what you’re eating, ect.

You were right I think I was bloated.

I eat lot of spinach, brocoli and cucumber. Sausage and chicken. I also eat lot of caco pure with heavy cream.

I don’t know how you’re preparing your veg but it helps to blanch or stir fry them for a bit vs eating raw to decrease bloating.

Maybe the glycogen was depleted. And that made a decrease in volume but no muscle loss
