Looking for answers

(Sandra) #1

Hello I was a proud MiMi of a three year old little girl. She was placed on the ketogentic diet about a year An a half ago. (For seizures) at first she seemed so do well with it. She never had any heart problems. January 1,2017 she went into cardiac arrest. Which she survived. She came home In February 2017 An we battled with chronic CDiff she did everything but the fecal transplant which was on the list of things to do in 2018. Sometime during this she was but on levacartine fish oil plus other supplements. In October we were told that they needed to get her blood again cause it clotted or was fatty. We questioned if this was from diet but no real answers. She went into cardiac arrest at least once a week for four weeks. She finally was transferred to a larger hospital which put in a loop monitor An they found in three days that she needed a pacemaker the first one they didn’t connect leads to both upper an lower chambers. On second attempt they found a large fatty tumor on her heart. They took her straight off the Keto diet not slowly just changed it. But thought she’d be ok she came home 12/23/17@ 9 pm An on 12/24/17 she was gone by another cardiac arrest. Just looking for answers could not slowly going off diet do this or any info would be appreciated

I’m so sorry… I have heard going off keto suddenly can have major health consequences, for example on a facebook page recently a woman shared that her doctor believed the stroke she suffered was a result of sudden diet change when she went on vacation and decided to have a bunch of dessert and sugary drinks. I think the most likely thing would simply be the doctors missed something all along. It doesnt mean she didnt have the best but its possible for something to be missed… Like I had a seemingly perfectly healthy cousin pass at 7 weeks of age because there was absolutely no sign she had congestive heart failure.
I’m truly sorry for what your family is going through, there’s no getting over losing a baby but I hope you can at least find some peace knowing you all did everything you could for her and she was loved every minute

Such a heartbreaking story! You are in my prayers. Maybe The Maker simply had need of another angel.

I’m here for you.
No parent or grandparent should ever outlive their child or grandchild. It goes against every law of nature I know. I have no answers. As a parent who has lost a child, you and your family have my deepest condolences. May you find peace and comfort in the days ahead. You’re in my thoughts, prayers and heart.

I am so sorry. Life can be so unfair. What a terrible thing for you and your family to go through. Sadly some times the answers are not clear why a young person would die. Perhaps the doctors missed something, perhaps the change indiet caused a critical change in electrolytes, or perhaps the additional cardiac arrest may have been more than she could handle. I hope you find the answers and comfort that you are looking for.

I am not a doctor, but I doubt it was the change in diet—the effects take a lot longer to manifest themselves. It’s more likely that your beautiful girl had a hidden genetic or hormonal defect that they don’t know how to detect, yet.

Please don’t beat yourself up. You did everything you could to take good care of her. I’m so sorry for your loss, and you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
