Let's talk bacon

(Mike W.) #5

Do you like your hands? lol

(Zach) #6

Whomever is faster I’d guess.

Thick cut, from locally raised hogs, using it in the bedroom? Could make sleeping with the dogs a challenge. Bacon makes pretty much any recipe BETTER!

I like to get thick cut bacon from the local butcher shop personally. I don’t know if it is organic or free range or whatever, but it is tasty. I bake my bacon by the package and store it in the fridge for future consumption.

My go to bacon

I buy the cheapest stuff possible listed at 0G carb per serving.

I usually buy whatever is discounted and lowest in carbs. I’ve decided not to worry about nitrates any more.

If I’m feeling all fancy I’ll buy it from the butcher, but lately I’ve been more about budget and lowest carb counts of everything.

1st Bacon 3:16
“Thou shalt eateth thine fill of bacon.”

(Cathy Schroder) #15

I’ve switched from shortcut bacon to streaky bacon (Australian cuts). More fat and soooo delicious.

(Brad Aurisch) #16

How do you bake it in the package? I’ve ready people using a sous-vide on a cryovac package - is that what you mean? If so what do you like about it - thinking of trying it myself…

(Zach) #17

No no no, BY the package, not IN the package. I just do it in bulk because I don’t want to cook it each time I want it. I have an Anova immersion circulator, but I don’t think bacon would be good with it…

#18

Me too!! Can’t believe what I’ve been missing out on my whole life!

(Adam L) #19

Same here totally agree, if you don’t use all the rendered fat at the time of cooking, eggs seem to soak it up nicely, its goes well in a jar and used later to grease up the pan when cooking something not so fatty.

(Jessica K) #20

I mean, I’m always up for talking about bacon…

I am sooooo lazy though. I buy the precooked stuff more often than not :joy:

#21

I love the precooked stuff and try to always have some on hand. It’s great for a quick snack!

Here’s my current bacon stash. I have precooked, fancy stuff from my family’s smokehouse and half a pack of some uncooked cheapie bacon.

(Doug White) #22

I like the Black Label thick cut bacon. I usually cook 2-3 packages up at a time - the accumulated bacon grease in the pan makes each round that I do cook faster. I put the entire stack in the refrigerator to have on hand for a quick snack.

I collect the bacon grease to put in the pan when I cook my eggs in the morning.

(Guardian of the bacon) #23

I just love looking at bacon porn!

(Brian Miller) #24

What self respecting dog lets the bacon make it all the way to the floor?
