Runners don’t want to hear it either. They believe wholeheartedly that carbs are vital to their performance. If you are a sprinter, then yeah, but 440yd and beyond you’re better to run on fat.

Absolutely. Big marathons still have carb-loading dinners and sponsers that invariably sell high sugar and high carb cr@p. Even Prof Tim Noakes, who first proposed carb loading and who invented gels, has totally discarded the idea of carbs for endurance fuel. It gave him T2D.
