Lesson learned again

(Renee Slaughter) #1

Had some friends over for dinner Sunday. Served fish tacos had mine on lettuce with all the fixings. I made a Keto dessert and ate a piece. But I told my guests to bring something for them. Bad idea.
I had 2 cookies and a piece a small piece of cake. Next morning my ketones were low and my blood sugar high. Ok thought I was done.
This morning I wake up feeling low and not well. Starting a fast today thought maybe I needed some salt. Carb flu again? Very likely.
So what did I learn?
Make my own dessert and no one ever bring carbage to dinner. I will ask for a bottle of red.

It’s alright Renee! You got this! Back on the horse, and we’re all here with ya!

Thanks Lindsay. Always nice to have support

Excellent choice!

Probably not the flu all over again, but maybe just a day or so of not feeling so good.

What you describe shouldn’t take long for the body to process and you’ll be back into ketone burning mode shortly.

It happens. Hang in there, or as they say around here, KCKO.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the support

I’ll suffer with ya. I just ate a beignet this afternoon with powdered sugar. My version of getting drunk in New Orleans. Meh. Ankles already swelling and so thirsty.

Enjoy your vacation. Resume when you return. Have a wonderful time.

They’re hard to resist! If it offers any consolation, I’d have probably had to eat at least one, too. It’s someplace I have only seen a couple of times in the last decade so I’m not gonna get too excited about it if a minor indisgression happens upon me at some point in the future. (Daughter & grandkids live in Slidell.) But hey, I feel for ya.

Take care & get back on the wagon when ya can. We’ll be here for ya.
