Led the Keto lifestyle for 5 months and loving it!

I made the choice to try Keto five months ago. I am 5’3" and had always been a size 4. However, due to fibromyalgia, depression and gut issues I went up to 165 lbs. Not proud at all, I felt tired, didn’t like the way I looked and was very depressed.
I am happy to say I am down to 144 lbs. I feel energized, my cholesterol went down from 306 to 155 (whoot whoot!), headaches, depression, joint pain, and gut problems are a thing of the past. Even though I feel my weight has stalled and I know I have to lose at least 20 lbs. to reach my healthy weight, I don’t get discouraged because I will eventually get there. The health benefits are greater than fitting back into my size 4 clothes who wait patiently in the closet…
Keto is a lifestyle, not a diet. I wish people understood that. I don’t intend on going back to my old eating habits and I wish more people gave it a try. I wish my own family gave it a try and stopped telling me how obsessed I am (which I am not).
Anywho, enough of my self pep talk. Does anyone have an idea of why my weight has stalled?

Congrats on your success so far Erika.

The closer we get to our goal weight the harder it is to lose. Our body has its own idea of what our ideal set weight is and it can be difficult to push past that number.

I would think you are fat adapted at this point, so you can try eating less fat as long as it doesn’t increase your hunger. By less fat, I mean try not to make fat a part of your every bite of food. For me, this meant cutting down on dairy and nuts… less butter, occasional nuts, no sour cream, mayo, less cheese etc.

You can also try IF, either eating 1 meal a day or eating in a restriction window, say from noon to 6pm. The more time betweeen meals, the less active your insulin is and the more opportunity your body has to access fat storage.

Also, try to mix things up. Maybe you eat 1 meal a few days out of the week and the rest of the week you eat in time restricted windows. Just remember it’s important to make sure you eat to satiety to reassure your body that starvation is not a threat, in which case it will cling to its fat and start slowing your metabolism.
