Ldl

Just had my physical with a NP and she was cautioning me that if my LDL was over 160 she was going to likely order me to start a statin.
I told her I would not be taking a statin. She argued for a bit and then said I should at least take red yeast rice—which has some statin properties.
I told her my triglycerides were low and my HDL was high—at my last blood draw.
My BP is great. I exercise minimum 5x per week. The lab results won’t be ready until tomorrow and I know it’s going to be similar to my last draw.
She had some terrible things to say about ketogenic diet. I know Monday is gonna be an argument.
I just read about the red yeast rice and I’m not sure about that. Ugh.
I also told her she can’t make me take a statin which I’m sure I’ll be labeled as “non compliant” in my chart. And as a nurse, that doesn’t sound good.

Time for a new doctor IMHO

I’m actually without a doctor. She is the nurse practitioner covering. And she used to work in cardiac so she is biased that way. Waiting for a new doc to come in and take over for my doc that left.
