Lazy keto but need to reduce protein

#1

I’ve been doing “lazy keto” with most days under 5 g carbs. I’ve experimented with the zero carb thing (which is not exactly zero carb but all animal products). So, I’m not losing weight and from reading and talking to friends who are on keto, the consensus is that I’m eating too much protein. Although I don’t track macros, I know I eat a LOT of protein because my diet has been based mostly on 85% ground beef burgers, chicken thighs, eggs, and other meats. Anyway, are there any ideas for foods (I prefer whole foods because they require less prep etc) that are very high in fat? (I’m ok with increasing my carbs to 15 g or so.) This morning I snacked on coconut oil right out of the jar. I tried bulletproof coffee and it tastes good but I don’t know if that will become a staple. I had macadamia nuts and mascarpone cheese for lunch. Then pork rinds and gruyere cheese for snacks, which are higher in protein.

I’d love to be able to stick to nearly 100% fats for breakfast/lunch/snack so that I can have something high in protein (like a steak) for dinner without going too crazy with protein overall. But other than coconut oil and macadamia nuts, I can’t really think of anything that’s really high in fat. I guess avocado is an option but I actually don’t find them that filling. Don’t really want to do the “fat bombs” since I’m avoiding sweeteners of any kind.

Oh and by the way, I’m aware that adults don’t need to eat breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. Slowly overcoming the snacking habit as well…

Thanks!

100% fats are fats…so you can drink oils or eat fats…lots eat butter and then lots think that’s insane.

Super fatty sauces are great to put over protein. I have found that after I have cooked fatty meats I can take a small amount of veg and chop it up and put it in the fat and hit it with a stick blender. It makes amazing sauces that are pretty much suspensions or emulsions. Easy and quick.

I have a pic here of a sauce I did like that for a ground beef chorizo meatloaf…let me find it.

Here it is. That sauce is almost pure fat.

The sauce had red peppers and the stuff on the top is chicken skin crumbles.

Thanks. That’s a good idea. Maybe I need to get over the idea that a 1-pound ribeye for dinner is going to fit my macros, and cut it in half (or thirds) and eat it with some kind of fatty sauce.

Honestly I eat too much protein too and I still lost weight using IF 18/6. I did 20/4 for a couple weeks but I didn’t like it so I stuck with 18/6 and the weight came right off and has stayed off.

Try cutting out snacks and tightening up your window.

Do you do bulletproof coffee during your fasting window, or only water?

Black coffee in the morning. No calories outside of my window.

Mayo! There are lots of homemade recipies but I like an avacado oil mayo I found at Costco that’s 0 carbs. Unfortunately they were discontinuing it. I bought 6 jars but I’m already down 2.

I just had cole slaw made with it. A small amount made with 1/3 cup mayo had over 500 calories of almost all fat.

So it turns out I’m actually ok on my macros if I just don’t eat big pieces of meat. For dinner I ended up having an avocado topped with olive oil and just a bite of salmon. My fats for the day ended up being really high (my goal). I guess I always associate Keto with eating big portions of meat, but that’s not really the best way, unless you’re doing zero carb. Will stick with the appropriate protein macros and see if I can finally lose!

My latest craze is olives with feta cheese. Really fatty and filling. It takes time to eat too which is better than just glugging something down. The super easy mayo using a stick blender is fab too. You can add blue cheese or garlic to change the flavours.
