I have been doing keto for three months now. In the first two months I lost 20lbs. But in the third month I haven’t lost a single pound. Nothing has changed in my daily routines nor I have changed anything in my diet. Does anybody have a clue what is the reason for that? Should I continue with Kato or this is my maximum? Thnx for help.
Last month 0lb off
Keto is a process of metabolic normalization during which excess fat loss is a side-effect. Lots of people start keto to lose weight/fat but eventually stick with it because they get healthier overall. Without knowing your initial starting weight, body comp, overall health, etc, it’s impossible to advise specifically. But weight/fat loss is not a linear process and often other stuff takes precedence - by that I mean eating the standard approved diet (SAD) for years or decades causes damage and fixing some specific damage may be more important than burning off a few pounds of fat now rather than next month. Best wishes.
A ketogenic diet is primarily a diet that restores metabolic health. The shedding of excess stored fat is more in the nature of a desirable side effect.
If you undertook this way of eating solely to shed some fat, it is possible that your body has reached what it considers its ideal weight, at least under your current circumstances. It is also possible that it will restart shedding fat.
Another consideration is that if you are using only your scale as your measure of progress, it might be confusing you. I went through a period of twelve months, after my main fat loss, during which my weight remained stable, but I continued to get thinner. This is because I was shedding more fat, but also gaining some muscle. So the fit of our clothing is often a better indicator of progress than the number on the scale.
Your body is showing you the right way Gave you big incentive you love thru those great results to just continue as you are doing.
Your body now has to catch up, heal the hormones, change the dynamics inside and become more metabolically stable and all that jazz.
Key to it all for long term success. Keep doing what you are doing Key to it all is let the body change as you keep on eating healthier than ever on your Keto plan and with time, more great comes to you.
Our bodies are ‘never on demand’ thru our own mental timelines! Yea I wish they were but they are not and won’t ever will be, lol,
Happy you are doing so well and continue on and focus also on other great new changes, more clarity, better overall well being in life, simper eating lifestyle, more energy, other goals like aches and pains gone maybe? and more.
Never put your health against a lb. gone on the scale and just keep on and more great things come, even more weight loss as you want! That comes with the more healthier and consistency on plan you hold Wishing you the best!
I’ve had 2-3 month stalls on the scale, while my pants got too big and my body shape and composition changed. These are more reliable than the scale sometimes. And I personally believe our bodies need a stall sometimes to adjust and become comfortable with our new normal. Stalls are ok. Ride them out.
As always… this is my thinking and my experience.
Good, now you have confirmation what you’re doing isn’t working you towards your goal so you don’t have to feel guilty changing it.
Does anybody have a clue what is the reason for that?
Ya, you’re eating more than your metabolism requires so you’re maintaining.
