Landed in Orlando and the butter price

#1

I feel for you guys in NA just back from the supermarket (publix I think) $4 for butter :scream: what is that all all about, 2 ā€˜grass feed’ patties $10 … Cheese was way more than I pay in the UK plus selection was poor.

On the positive note , it is raging warm :sunrise:

Any suggestions for places I should eat in Orlando area + thinking of a Miami overnighter any where in this area a should eat? Looking for those gem’s those in the know, know…

Haha, welcome tot he States!

I’m not from there, but if you get to Miami, I do have fond memories of eating stone crab with butter there.

If you don’t mind me asking my good sir, how much butter was in the packaging?

#4

Wow, really. My Publix here in north Florida has Kerrygold on sale this week 2/$5 (2 sticks or one block). Their meat prices are usually insane and I only buy what’s on sale, and that never seems to include the grass-fed section.
No idea on restaurants there. Keep in mind Orlando is a huge tourist destination and the further you are from the ā€œattractionsā€ the less price gouging you’ll likely find.

In my area of Indiana, I recently got real butter in 1 lbs boxes (4sticks) for $2.49 a package at my local Kroger store. Was originally 2.99, but they had a digital coupons for .50 off up to 5 boxes. Bought 5 because it was a bargain and Keto.

Ours usually runs for $3.19 for 8oz block. I’ll have to check to see if it’s on sale here. 2/$5 is the best price I’ve ever seen it. I’m debating buying up a bunch and start stock piling it in the chest freezer!

Yes, our Walmart has the blocks for 2.88 every day too. Publix has put KG on sale 2/$4 right before Thanksgiving for the last 2 years. I stock up on that one. Just get there on the first day of the sale or you might be left staring at an empty shelf.

Now see, our Walmart used to be cheaper than Publix but not anymore! Walmart here has it for $3.44 because I used to get it there! There is no real competition anymore. They all send out mystery shoppers and keep their prices hovering about the same. I’m serious about just freezing the stuff. Its the only butter that I have bought in years. My last trip to Austria 6yrs ago spoiled me for Dairy products! I even made my own butter for a time but it’s a pain in the ass. Kerry Gold was the only one we could find that was even half way decent. How you gonna keep 'em on the farm once they’ve seen gay Paree?

I freeze my stockpile too. Mainly because I don’t have space in my fridge for it, but it fits nicely in the ā€œjuice canā€ rack in my freezer.

I’ve found WalMart’s prices vary quite a bit by neighborhood and/or city depending on local demands maybe, or by overhead costs, customer income maybe (?)

… oh and competition. They tend to price match other grocery stores in their area.

Standard UK block size 8oz I believe.

250g, actually - food measurements are officially metric, apart from beer and milk, which can be sold in pints.

New place we just discovered in Orlando.

It’s like a Moe’s in that you tell them exactly what you want, and that’s how they make it. You can have a carb-free sushi bowl with avocado, cream cheese, etc.

(Kelly ) #13

Yup!!! Only it’s not stone crab season so he will have to make a second trip for that

#14

Oh bummer! When is it?

(Kelly Kranci) #15

It runs October to May so book your flight early!! Are you here visiting Disney and such?
