Knocked Out of Ketosis?

(Robert Smith) #1

I’ve been using the sticks. I went from trace amounts to moderate and it’s been moderate until yesterday. Today I used the stick and test negative. What gives? I follow the diet very strictly.

If you mean the pee sticks ignore it. For most people they only work at first. As you fat adapt you stop spilling ketones out of your urine and burn them instead. Aside from that the majority of our ketones wind up being BHB (blood) and not the Acetyl Acetate (urine) that we have at first.

How long have you been doing Keto? Could be you’re fat adapted.
Since the sticks measure ketones you’re spilling or wasting, it’s typical to see a dip once your body knows what to do with them. You don’t waste much.

Blood testing is more accurate than pee sticks. How about the way you feel? If you’re around 20g of net carbs you will be in ketosis.

It’s been about a month now. I’ve been very strict. Zero sugar carbs, Carbs come from veggies or some cheeses. I stay between 11-18 total net carbs daily.

I feel great, more energy. Never hit the keto flu thank heaven! I stay under 20g net daily and get my carbs from cheeses and veggies. Absolutely no sugar carbs

Sounds like are doing great! Fahgettabout the pee sticks now and just KCKO.

It would be fast to be fat adapted already, but not impossible.

I wouldn’t worry about it. Just keep doing what you’re doing.
