Killing our children but hope

(ianrobo) #1

No real need to say anything other than post this

however beneath the report is this

Dr Alison Tedstone, chief nutritionist at Public Health England, said: "Our sugar reduction programme and the government’s sugar levy are world-leading, but this is just the beginning of a long journey to tackle the challenge of a generation.

this is about the UK BUT the report does not mention FAT once (in terms of food) not once …

It is sad here in the US how many obese very young children you see. I think it is a combination of fast food and lack of exercise. Young kids are not outside playing but are in the house playing video games.

The first leads onto the second, as Dr Lustig says, the sugar makes you a sloth and a sloth means no exercise etc.

However as long as coco pops is marketed as healthy no hope !

What i find encouraging is that my 32 year old daughter eats a very low carb diet and is pretty active. Hopefully that will carry through with her children if and when she has them.

I hope I didnt make you faint.

Look at the label.
There is so little non-chemical stuff in there … you dont have to refrigerate it.
In case you want to purchase this item … look in the center aisles of your Grocery Store.

Dr Alison Tedstone killing us all off one Type 2 at a time… she is the person I hate most in the UK.
Always there to belittle any attempt to repair the dreadful things that her organisation has done.

(ianrobo) #12

but Mark has she had an ephinay, her comments are clear and precise here …

(bulkbiker) #13

Not really she’s now going to go on about "added"sugar and how fat is the demon…
I’ll give her 5 minutes before she’s demonising fat… she always does…
A fat hating leopard never changes their spots…
She has a closed mind

(ianrobo) #14

can only comment on the one quote here, do you have another recent article from her ?

On 3rd October PHE released a paper that reviewed other studies of what constituted a successful weight management programme for children. The answers were found to be “move more and eat less” ie have more physical activity and exercise portion control. CICO.

I don’t think PHE have experienced an epiphany, but the inclusion of sugar as a food group to be concerned about is progress at least.

Tedstone has written on the PHE blog (as reported in the UK press) that what the world needs is consistent advice, nit advice which reacts to “fad” diets.

I interpret this to mean that the advice at government level will be the last thing to change, it will never lead.

She is usually wheeled out on Radio 4 Today whenever anything dietary is in the news…
When the PHC published their “fat is good” article she was the main naysayer and went on and on about how bad it was.
