Kids and Keto_Constipation

(Not Weak) #1

I need help! We haven’t moved our daughter (6) to full keto, but naturally lower carb just because of what we have in the house. She suffers from constipation often, our doc said sometimes it happens when they are going thru growth spurts. Does anyone think that full keto would help this issue or be more beneficial for her digestive issues? Any science or experience is appreciated!

There are many variation of “keto oatmeal”, and I’ve only included one link, but the combination of flax and chia makes it a real bowel cleanser.

Dr. Stephen Phinney also explains how insufficient amounts of sodium will result in constipation, too.

I give my kids magnesium if they are stopped up. Raspberry-lemon Natural Calm.

What about making fat bombs with coconut oil? I find upping the fat helps with constipation.

My little keto buddies take a magnesium supplement when they can’t go.

By any chance is your daughter on the Autism spectrum? These children often struggle with bowel issues. There is no one answer, but make sure she is drinking plenty of water. A good probiotic may be helpful. Gluten should be avoided, and dairy is also suspect. I hope this helps.

Thanks all! She is not on the spectrum. We started fiber supplements, increasing the amount of probiotic yogurt in her diet, and forcing more water each day. It seems to be helping.
