Kicked myself out of ketosis

So last Saturday, I gave into carbs… which was a mistake. I kicked myself out of ketosis. I immediately got back on track, but feel like I’m having keto flu again? Can that happen after just 1 bad day? It’s been about 5 days, and I still feel like a giant piece of poo.

It’s possible if your glycogen stores refilled while you were off-track as they’ll now be depleting again which could be flushing electrolytes once more. Just manage your electrolytes and stick with it, it’ll pass.

Of course it could be that you have a cold / flu coming on too.

How long have you been doing keto?

I’ve been Keto since late November… and this is the 1st time I’ve fallen out :frowning:

For me it can take around 10 days before I hit that keto sweet spot again after a carb blow out.

Exercise helps speed up my recovery.

My biggest problem is the return of the carb cravings, that can take many weeks to get over.

Hi Krissy,
I did the exact same thing Sunday. Had some carbage. Monday I felt sluggish and lethargic. Sure enough low ketones high blood sugar. Just kept drinking Ketoaide fasted Tuesday through Wed. Back on track.

Yes- definitely struggling in that area… trying to curb it by eating a berry here and there… today it has helped. 10 days- that’ll be a leason to stick with me!

Of note is that keto flu can occur any time your electrolytes aren’t up to snuff. Even when you are keto. And, it takes 3 days for serious cravings to die, longer for them to disappear.
