I have been on a keto diet for over six weeks now. In this time i have been using keto sticks, and sometimes it would be Almost dark, sometimes in the middle and sometimes weak. But i have never taken the test and not been in ketosis. But for the last 3 days its ONLY been weak, on the 0,5 on the scale, and it’s constant. I am woundering how to interpret that?
Ketostix, fat adapted or weak ketosis?
I might ad that i exercise six days a week, eat right and try to stay bellow 20g carbs. on my “worst” days i get upto 27g carbs but the majority bellow 20. I drink 2 cans og coke zero/Pepsi Max per day.
The sticks only show that you are excreting excess ketones in your urine. They don’t show that you are in ketosis. Your goal is to use ketones, not pee them out. If you are eating 20g or less of net carbs, you are in ketosis. If you are eating 20g or less of net carbs and the strips show light color, it just means you aren’t wasting ketones.
Then you are likely using the ketones for fuel and as @J_A-M said, not wasting them. KCKO
That’s great to hear. I’m in the same boat. My test strips will show low or negative for most of the day, then hit dark purple at night. I’ve never had consistent readings and have wondered about it for years. I’ll lose weight in bunches, then plateau.
