Our son [adult!] has also been doing the keto lifestyle for a couple of weeks - diligently but not obsessively. We tested him on our blood meter and he got 5.0 and then we double checked and he got 4.9 - this seems rather high to me given how he describes his eating etc - indicating starvation ketosis rather than nutritional, is there any cause for concern?
Ketone reading of 5.0

Healthier living generally - he’s in week two and I’m just not quite saw how he has got to a reading of that while doing much the same as us (and we tend to get readings between 0.7 and 2.1).

Your son may be less insulin-resistant than you two, hence the different reading. Also, if he’s new, you would expect his ketone reading to go down once he’s fully fat-adapted.
