So, I have recently started testing my blood ketone levels and am a but confused at my readings. I am always at a .3 - .8 . I can never get it to go any higher. I have reead that optimal ketone levels start at a 1.5.
I have not cheated at all and have stuck to 20 net carbs a day. What can I do differently to raise my ketone levels? Also, someone mentioned that having ANY reading at all means I am in ketosis. Is this true?
Many thanks !!
Ketone Levels Blood Meter Readings
You’re doing fine. Levels are up and down throughout the day as they’re influenced by many things, like activity levels, food, etc
Thank you!! Im new to this and am just really wanting to do this right! I appreciate your reply!
Is this your morning reading? It’s the lowest reading in the day. For some people it takes time to come into ketosis, your readings should be over 1.5 to be optimal. Give it time. Is your bloodsugar high? Lower it to increase your ketosis levels.
Yeah I usually test in the mornings. And my blood sugar is normal. My macros are 1324 calories, 86 grams of protein, and 100 grams of fat. Does this sound like a good range?
I dont know how much you weigh but I count my weight = 56 kiloes times 0,8, that is 45g protein so you might wanna lower it a bit so you dont start producing glucoes in the liver. My intake is 88% fat, 12% protein. Blodglucose is a bit high, around 5,5 and ketones around 1,8.
I started keto eating just before thanksgiving. I’m a sedentary (mobility limited) female 6’1” weighed 250 at start. I’m at 238 now but I’m concerned about my mojo meter reading. Dinner last night was mashed cauliflower, steamed broccoli and pabout 5oz baked chicken.
About 30 min. After meal my ketones were 10. Two hours later they were 8. Today fasting ketones were 7. BG was 113.
I find a huge discrepancy in BG between my mojo meter and my glucose meter. I’m using the correct strips for each meter.
Any input?
