Ketoade and Electrolytes while on Lithium

#1

Sodium, Magnesium, and Potassium. They’re all salts and they can effect Lithium levels in people on this medication (also a salt). Any idea on how much is safe? Going to talk to the doc about it as well but I wonder if anyone else has some input.

1/4 teaspoon lite salt + 1/2 tablespoon magnesium citrate:
290 mg sodium
350 mg potassium
75 mg magnesium

Or is it better to just get it from diet: pumpkin seeds, avocado, spinach, almonds?

The correct plan. That drug needs to be medically monitored. Please don’t go by others N=1s on that. Suicide is a side effect of the drug. Not too healthy, so make sure it is monitored please.

Recommended daily intake for regular diet:
Sodium 2,300 mg
Potassium 4,700 mg
Magnesium 400 mg

I wonder how this compares for keto and if it’s more necessary when fasting. I usually just try to get nutrients from food, but I wonder if I am deficient just drinking water while exercising. I do heavily salt my food.

Excess magnesium and potassium have a risk of kidney failure and heart issues if you are supplementing.
