Keto while Camping

Hello everyone! This is my second post on the forum. Maybe I’ll manage to file this one correctly!

I was very excited when I saw the category “Keto in the Wild” since I’ve been wondering how we can do this when wilderness camping - so, not car camping, but carrying everything you will need either on your back or in your canoe, for 10 days or 2 weeks or so. When I scrolled through the threads, though, I see it really means eating out at restaurants!

So - anyone have any suggestions about how to go camping while keto? Jerky is one option, of course, but living on jerky for 10 days could get tough. There are freeze-dried foods, and I know you can get freeze-dried meat, but often they come with “sauces” and “spices” that include sugar, modified corn starch, dextrin and wheat among other things.

I guess we could do a 10-day fast while we’re out!

The forum has a strong search option so always start with that.

I thought I had searched - especially since when you type anything in, it comes up with “your thread sounds like,” none of which had anything to do with camping.

I like landjaeger for backcountry trips, but pretty much any hard sausage will do. Macadamia nuts, of course (other nuts too). Hard cheese, like parmesan, lasts too.

Cans of meat too, tuna, chicken, things like that

Just pack water and fast. Don’t have to carry in or pack out as much. Won’t have to dig many latrines either.
