any ideas, links , recipes, resources for a keto wedding menu including cake? 50 guests, late dafternoon, rural indoor/ outdoor setting at a lavender farm next door. . call it semi casual elegant supper menu maybe? think Martha Stewart on the farm. will hire a caterer but would like to have some recipes and menu ideas on hand before screening. @Carrie do you have a keto wedding cake in any of your books? or a menu? must include some meat free options (dairy, egg , fish ok) thanks much.
Keto wedding menu?
I love weddings - congratulations!
How about:
- petite, individual filet mignon on the grill with horseradish sour cream;
- rich keto bisque (Iāll send you the recipe);
- jumbo shrimp wrapped in bacon, and some just with cocktail sauce for vegetarians;
- romaine and field green salad with toppings bar (bacon, eggs, cheese, sunflower seeds, olives, cukes, cherry tomatoes in elegant little dishes, several keto dressings - blue cheese, ranch, italian);
- sauteed brussel sprouts in bacon grease;
- al dente asparagus with holandaisse sauce;
- assorted fat bombs as an extra dessert.
Have fun with this!
Vegetarians can eat shrimp? Or do you mean the vegetarians would have the cocktail sauce?
hahaha! I suspect some vegetarians WOULD eat just the cocktail sauce. its like hot sauce- makes many things better and has a nice tooth to it. however, there is a use for naked shrimp in this menu. so I a good suggestion. we have friends who eat almost anything pork, others who donāt eat meat but eat almost everything else. and some folks who swish around in pescatarian land. And, then there is me. I hate bacon but love shrimp:)
The old saying: ānothing with a faceā. Not sure if oysters have a face, but they are out too (unless a pescatarian vegetarian, then seafood is in).
I recently went to a wedding that was raw vegan. Nearly. Died.
Donāt do that.
How many people do you expect? Could get a bit pricey to feed a large crowd just keto without some carbage to fill them up. Not sure if this is an issue.
If it were me, I would want all my guests to be comfortable and enjoy themselves and food is a big part of that. I would provide as many options that fit my budget - keto, vegetarian, gluten-free etc.
Congratulations and good luck with your planning!
It got me to thinking of my own wedding 14 years ago. Just family and close friends and we held it in our rent house and did the cake and food ourselves.
Not a single thought about āspecialā foods. All my guests - about 20 in all - just ate normal carbage back then (including me) so was easy peasy.
Today I would do it differently, for sure. And look a lot thinner in my wedding dress too!!!
while I do want my 40 ish guests to be happy and have a good time, I am not of the opinion that I need to accommodate every single food preference on the planet. Gluten free is almost always a thing in our circle and Vegans abound so those options are always covered. Hopefully by keeping it simple and keeping it low carb we will meet most peopleās needs. Really great food is found in all disciplines right? Just looking for some keto low-carb ideas that are festive elegant and might scale well. Part of the fun of it is putting out a Keto./lo carb feast that many will not even recognize as keto so as to amaze and surprise them and stop the anti keto talk in our familiesā¦
Iām sure we will throw some little crustless quiche in the mix and some lovely other small bits that will appeal to everyone. including some vegan pieces.
If someone has actual allergies they could let me know and they are probably used to navigating parties safely⦠If they have preferences, hopefully theyāll find something to eat. Iām not going to force feed them anything for sure
There will be plenty of wine which tends to make things better. . Holding the event at a friends winery and lavender farm (sounds very fancy, yes? itās actually a bit rustic. The LGD kind of walk in and out of the buildings. )
Also we are grown up mature 50 plus -year-old people so are used to telling the young ones to eat whatās their plate before they can go out to play. Kidding. Sort of.
but I still donāt know what to do for a cake. doesnāt have to be a wedding towering cake . could be sheet cake or a small stack or even individual desserts on a standā¦just canāt figure out what.
See if thereās any keto bakers in your area. I have a fabulous local keto friendly bakery in my area that Iām going to have do my wedding cake!
