Keto Version of oatmeal
Are you willing to change up your breakfast routine and eat something like scrambled eggs and/or bacon instead of oatmeal? Or does it have to be oatmeal? I used to eat oatmeal, too. But, not anymore. I’ve transitioned to other foods. Habits take different forms…taste, physical, etc.
Yes, eat the toppings, and toss the crust. That’s what I do, too.
I haven’t tried this recipe, but let me know if you do https://www.ketoconnect.net/recipe/keto-oatmeal/
Everyone is a special snowflake to a point and the general rule is that you can’t stay in ketosis after 50g. 1/2 cup of regular oatmeal as 23g net carbs. That’s over my daily intake of carbs. If you decide to limit to 30g a day, you could have a 1/2 cup but that only leaves you 7g to play with. Not worth it in my opinion and my sister will tell you that she is knocked out of ketosis at 30g. I can stomach 30g but try to give some padding in case I make a mistake so limit to 20g.
You should be able to eat just the toppings but the sauce will have sugar in it if it is commercial, i.e. Domino’s, etc. so be careful not to get too much of that sauce. Papa John’s is sweet as hell and sugar is in the mix they add to regular tomato sauce so I would avoid that at all cost.
You should read the study that found that mice die sooner eating oatmeal than they do eating the cardboard box that it comes in.
Hi Fiorella, yes I am to change ,it is going to be very difficult.Thank you for your help
Yvette.
You could try out the recipe I use for porridge, which I enjoy with cinnamon and lots of butter at the rare times that I eat breakfast.
Recipe:
2 eggs,
1 dl coconut milk/cream,
1 tbsp coconut flour,
1-2 tbsp coconut oil,
1 pinch salt
some cardamon (or saffron)
Put all the ingredients into a saucepan and whisk together.
Stir over medium heat until a good texture has been reached
Serve with lots of butter and some cinnamon
Hi Yvette! Is it just the long-lasting fullness from the oatmeal you love, or the taste or the warm in the morning or the ritual of breakfast?
Depending on which part(s) you love, you might be able to sub out something that isn’t trying so hard to be something it’s just not.
