Keto/Salt and fluid around the heart

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #21

I generally order steak and salad, hold the potatoes. That works in pretty much any restaurant.

Another option is a cheeseburger with a couple of eggs on top and a side of bacon, hold the bun and the fries. Or steak and eggs (again, hold the potatoes and toast) at a diner than runs their breakfast menu around the clock.

Yep…I do as much meat ordering as possible. I’ve had plenty of burgers topped with a sunny side egg…it’s delish!

There are wonderful international restaurants in his area, not so much in mine. Trying new foods/flavors is something I want to do more of.

BF knows steaks are the way to my heart

He makes a great lamb chop, rib eyes, etc. Sunday mornings are usually bagels and lox and there’s always pie. He loves fresh pies. I politely say no to the pie, but you know, it’s hard to resist. I’d never have temping foods at my place. And I don’t want him to alter his food choices any more than I wish him to alter mine.

As far as legs cramps go, I was getting terrible cramps at night when I would wake up and unconsciously stretch my leg. My problem?
Magnesium deficiency solved with some supplements. The cramps are gone.
My problem with salt is that I am not a salt person and dislike the taste of food with a lot of salt.
You could go low carb which may not be as good as keto but still far better than the SAD and a decent enough compromise. With occasional fasting you would likely get into ketosis occasionally.
Wouldn’t we all love to get our non-keto loved ones to at least give it a try. My daughter suffers from a severe mental illness and has been in a mental health care facility of one kind or another for going on 3 years now. During the pandemic they did not allow any visitors and so I was not able to see her for over a year even though I’m just 40 miles away.
Psych meds are terrible for weight gain and she is now 100 pounds overweight, nearly 100 pounds more than me. I would love for her to go keto but her food is prepared for her and they don’t recognize keto as a legitimate diet other than if you have epilepsy. So in the big picture her food choices are not in her control.
