Keto Related Injuries

How have you been wounded by keto? Last night I cooked a porterhouse steak on an iron skillet covered with butter. When I flipped I heard a mini boom and grease exploded everywhere. Anyone know the science around that one?
Anyone else have keto war stories?

Several years ago I was grilling my tenderized brisket steaks that had lot’s fat on them. The fat flared up and exploded. I had several burns on my stomach, a few being second degree. It took several years before the effects went away completely.

It was the last time I grilled bare chested. I’m now a big fan of aprons.

Ouch =( that looks sore. I hope that it all heals well.

I have burned myself lots over the years doing cooking, but not since Keto . I think because many of my burns were from boiling water, and I got them a lot making pasta which I rarely make now (except for the family but not often).

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #4

Ouch! I’ve gotten accustomed to “bacon kisses,” but that’s like a bit much. There must have been a water droplet somewhere that vaporised, to produce those results. I feel your pain! (Well, no, I don’t really, of course—and boy am I glad!)

Seriously, feel better soon!

Yikes - that does look painful. There are probably some keto-friendly wound dressings to consider (butter, coconut oil) but that’s small solace at this point.

I guess my worst “Keto-related” injury was one afternoon, after having ignored my hydration/salt needs for a while, when I stood up … the room suddenly swirled and I soon collapsed through a dizzying spiral onto the floor.

Got a bit of a rug-burn on my knee from the carpet. But could’ve been far worse if I’d fallen onto a less forgiving surface.

But I did learn my lesson about drinking loads of “Keto Aide” since then and to stop assuming I’m somehow exempt from such concerns.
