Keto Re-start and Antibiotics

(Heather Meyer) #1

I truly feel like i win the “most kidney infections in a year” award. I am on #11 since May of last year. Lemme tell ya… my Doctor is rich! Taking Antibiotics like candy is $$$ to his pocket.

Anyway…like every month before this… I am on antibiotics to treat my Kidney infection again.
Now, i have been intentionally on a break from Keto for the past 2 weeks and would like to get back into it now that vacation is over.

My question is …

Can you be on Antibiotics and get back into Keto at the same time? Will antibiotics prevent me from achieving ketosis? I know that when I am healthy, i can get into Keto no problem. But i have never attempted while on Antibiotics…

Thoughts?

Oh my. Sorry your having all these kidney infections? Has your doctor discovered why you are getting so many? Honestly, eating healthy whole foods and keeping carbs at a minimum is a win win no matter whether you “get into ketosis” or not so if it were me, I’d start right away. I would suggest also taking a probiotic to help your gut flora re-establish after all those rounds of antibiotics.

If the antibiotic is the sort you can take with dairy, live-culture yoghurt is also helpful.

As far as getting back to keto is concerned, I can’t imagine how taking an antibiotic would interfere. I’d say you’re good to go.

Yah…cant take with dairy…has to spaced 2 hours apart

Unfortunately i think Doctors here in Canada rather make $$ off handing us perscriptions instead of figuring out WHY its actually happening.
