My friends are tagging me on this story on social media. People are saying things like “See you need to rethink this diet”. You always think of good science-based come-backs. help!

Yep @Jjdslp122 - that article is making the rounds on digital news and it is just the opposite of a lot of scientific truth. It appears to be a study designed to promote #1 the DASH diet and #2 Mediterranean. Both of which keep a lot of people sick (because few are doing traditional mediterranean, they’re doing high carb med!)

Here’s a good one that just came out two days ago, about the “Silicon Valley diet craze improving lives” - for tagging people back with, lol. There are lots of good recent references and some great quotes, like:

“A small study recently published in the journal Diabetes and Metabolic Syndrome found that adults who had been diagnosed with metabolic syndrome (a precursor of diabetes) and ate a ketogenic diet had resting metabolic rates (a measure of how much energy your body burns when at rest) more than 10 times as high as people who ate a standard diet.”

And, the closing lines:

"The keto diet made over my mind and my body. The sense of mental clarity and energy that came on about three to four weeks into eating keto was unlike anything I’ve experienced. I woke up feeling strong, confident, and capable of taking on whatever the day threw at me.

“This is how you’re supposed to feel as a human being,” Dr. Wali said during a follow-up visit. (Priyanka Wali MD - an internal-medicine physician with specialty training in obesity medicine). :smiley:

Jennifer, for more ideas you can check out the other threads on here discussing this report - but really, you don’t need a comeback because… oof, where to start? Read the comments of the dieticians who voted. They’re mind-bogglingly uninformed.

Low sodium diet is the best? I don’t suppose it would have killed them to use science when writing an article. No wonder nobody watches fake news anymore.

I would really like to know who funded / funds these experts to determine “the best diet”. Ridiculous. How about “you do you” and don’t worry about me. There is not 1 diet that is great for every person.

Tell all your friends to mind their own business. If you are happy and seeing results, that’s all that matters.

I’ve never felt better than when I started keto. My triglycerides to HDL ratio is .6. My triglycerides have never been lower. I love it and will never start to eat the 7-8 servings of grains, and VEGETABLE oils that the so called “experts” are recommending!

Tell them it“s Fake News
Tell them it’s the same people who flip flopped on eggs
Tell them if it was dangerous then why is it prescribed to children with epilepsy

Tell them that of course the weight loss industry-of which nutritionists are a part-wants you on a diet with high carb counts. It’s how they stay in business.
