Keto pains? Keto highs?

Hiya, I literally joined 15 mins ago, I love the moo post! Hits the nail on the head.
I’ve been on keto for approx 3/4 weeks, absolutely no weight loss, but I feel great! I’m drinking more then just pure coffee, and my skin is feeling good too.
Couple of things I’d like to ask, I’m just about to go reading through articles in a sec and see what other people have experienced…
1, pain… Lower back, hip, left leg and tail bone. I literally thought I’d slipped a disk or broke my tail bone, even though I’ve not had any injuries. 2, I’ve been doing pee sticks, I’m mildly in ketosis, but hugely dehydrated for the past week. I upped my salt, magnesium and calcium intake as well as water, no change! Is there something magic im missing? Macros are good, I’m using my fitness pal to help, it’s been aaaaaaamazing!
3, getting high feelings of euphoria and happiness. I’m just wondering if others have experienced this. (and no I don’t take drugs to get the feeling, just fat and water).

I’m glad I found this site, it’s just what I need to keep going! I’ve only read a handful of posts so far, and it’s very informative.

Welcome! It could be that you’re really close to your goal weight? I use the same app, it’s great for keeping track of weigh-ins and fat/protein/carbs. I love it. What is your fat per day at? Mine is 141 per day and 17 total carbs. I seem to be losing quickly and weigh in’s give me a ‘high’ that lasts for a while. You may have to experiment, because so many things vary person to person.

Hellow and welcome StarfoxRose

I had a bad car accident when I was 25 and I was sore for days and never went to the hospital. Then, on my 40th birthday, the same things you have mentioned began to bother me in the extreme. A visit and talk with my chiropractor convinced him to believe the accident years ago had finally caught up to me. I’m not saying you have structural back problems, but it is possible even in the absence of any recent trauma.

The question is how much salt and water did you increase to? I found that I had issues when I am not getting my 2+ teaspoons of salt per day (leg cramps) and around 64 oz (2 liters) of water per. On the other hand, drinking too much water might lead to you excreting way too much salt and other electrolytes.

That’s what I call the keto honeymoon. Adrenaline levels are probably high and your mental clarity and attitude are in top form. That’s not to mention you probably have more energy. The bad news is that it does noticeably fade somewhat but some of that I think is that we just get used to our new normal and it’s not as noticeable?

If you are talking about @MooBoom’s Doing Keto solely to lose weight? Read this ,

I totally agree with you. Another recent post that made me think of Moo’s thread is this one where the thread begins:

She returns 3 months later to say:

This made my day.

I’ve literally been feeling amazing since the first post, I went to the gym for the first time since starting the keto diet, about 6 weeks… I effortlessly worked harder then before without pushing my body too hard. I’m seriously impressed. I’m loving my new life change. I’ve lost no weight, and lost no inches still at 8 weeks, but I know my body is repairing and changing internally.
I’m loving mozzarella atm. I litarlly eat a pack a day  high in fat, no carbs, delicious cooked or raw!!!

That’s great, I love your attitude. Keto is first and foremost about your health, absolutely, and any weightloss that’s experienced is one of its best side effects. Assuming you are in it for the long haul, you will definitely see results at some point (and not just weightloss, tons of non-scale victories to look forward to).

What are your goals?

My goals are to live a long healthy life and drop 2 to 3 stones. After reading moos post over a week ago now I chilled out and researched the science side of keto. I’m defiantly staying keto, I’m pursuading my hubby, and with great ease after my happy turn, to go keto. I’m preparing to transform the kids too after reading a few posts on here. They are very young, so now is my time! Keto family, here we come!!!

I’m going to hazard a guess that this is why you’re not losing weight. I restarted keto for the third time Christmas Day, so a little over 6 weeks ago. Was doing everything “right” as far as keeping carbs low and hitting macros, but wasn’t losing a lb. I cut dairy out starting yesterday and lost 2 lbs in a day.

That’s quite Interesting! I do love my cheeses, I find it an easy way to get fat in me, I may up my coconut dose and lower my cheese intake. I hadn’t really thought about cheese as a hindrance.

I’m right there with you my friend, I LOVE cheese!!! I ate some form of it literally every day. But then I started getting some adverse reactions the last couple weeks that made me think dairy could be to blame. https://www.ketogenicforums.com/t/n-1-food-intolerances/75762

Made the sad, sad decision to completely eliminate it for a few days, then add back in a few things that have never bothered me (butter and hard cheeses) one at a time starting next week. I was shocked when I got on the scale this morning!

I’m literally willing to try anything atm. I’ve tried lots of diets to date, and failed very badly.

I used to have terrible ibs that went away when I cut alot of bread and dairy out, I never cut dairy out completely though and have always struggled with weight loss and mild pain. It’s something I have considered. I will try it for 7 days and see how I go!
