Keto OR low carb

#1

Hi all,
I have been doing a low carb diet for 6 weeks now, I am wondering if you can still lose weight doing this or do you have to be doing the Keto diet?
Is it still beneficial to be cutting out carbs? because I don’t miss them at all.
The only reason I am not Keto is because I like a wine or vodka in the arvos, but food wise, Ive been sticking to low carb under 25g p/day.
Alcohol and weight loss, blah, blah, blah I know lol, but I’m travelling Australia and my partner and I like a little arvo sesh sometimes.
Opinions on this please?

both are fine just that for me I eat over 3000-4000 cals on keto (ik crazy) and cant gain a pound, but everyone is different and its just from my ectomorphic frame and distance training and young age allows me too gorge all the fat i want but theres a catch too it. I keep my protein lower than 1.5 per kilo of body weight and keep carbs 15 on most days and 30 on veggie up days, But once a week ill have a taco or a gordita my mom makes just for family tradition and I just train all little harder in practice and what do you know im still in ketosis before I go to bed.

in other words your answer is yes both are fine but on keto you can eat more calories unlike low carb its about the deficit in cal

Alcohol will stall fat burning, so if weight loss is the goal, drinking alcohol is counter productive.

Keto is really effective for lowering insulin levels. If you are eating low carb enough such that your insulin levels are low enough to allow for fat burning, then no, you don’t have to be keto to lose weight.

A ketogenic diet is a LC diet (for most people). The reason is called keto is because you’re in ketosis. If you’re not in ketosis, it’s not a keto diet, it’s a LC diet. It’s not one size fits all. A keto diet for one person may not be a keto diet for another.

Of course its possible to lose weight without being in ketosis. Lots of people (most people) do that. It’s also possible to gain weight while in ketosis.

One of the things I’ve learned is that WHEN (intermittent and extended fasting) it’s just as powerful as WHAT (macros) is eaten. And they are somewhat interchangeable. Doing IF allows greater dietary flexibility. For example, if you’re going to eat junk, make it the only meal of the day.

I reached my goal weight doing strictly low carb, My wife wants to lean towards the keto side, as she has more to lose, so that works for her. Their very similar, so I would suggest doing what works for you.

And yes, alcohol will stall your weightloss (I know that from personal experience). But, so long as know that going in, so that your’re not surprised when you get on the scale, you should be able to deal with it,
