Keto newbie, questioning my potential success

Hey! I’m a newbie, I’m on day 25 of being very strict and very motivated to make this diet work for me. The first couple of weeks have been mostly awesome, only a few headaches and I lost 8.5 pounds. This week I added two exercise classes to my routine and I’ve gained 1.5 lbs back. I’m using an app to closely track everything and I haven’t messed up. I’m a single mom of three who works full time and has a busy schedule running kiddos from activity to activity in the evenings and adding this workout into our schedule has pushed dinner back to 8pm. Is this something that could effect my loss? I even did a 16 hour fast to try and drop the weight I gained back with no luck. This is a small amount but anything in the wrong direction is frustrating and has me wondering if I can make Keto a lifestyle and not just a temporary diet. I’d love any input or ideas to help regain my motivation.

At least some of your initial weight loss was water weight. As your body adapts to Keto and it rehydrates, it can put some of the weight back on. I would go by how your clothes feel over worrying too much about the scale. You could be losing fat even while the water weight comes back on.

Two things that spring to mind… Time of the month. Sleep/stress.

If your clothes are fitting better, your brain is clearer, and you feel good… Don’t sweat it. Keep Calm and Keto On.

For me, Keto is 8 steps forward and one step back. You are still further ahead than you were, it’ll work it’s self out.

Your initial weight loss was probably glycogen, the initial step to becoming lipolytic. Your gain was probably because training makes you thirsty. Don’t weigh yourself again for a month and make sure not to consume extra salt two days before you do it. You’ll be through the major adaptive phase by then, and your weight will then be a reasonably accurate measurement of your progress.

Just wanted to assure you I am going through the same thing. Frustrating!
