Keto must be a lot harder for *normal* people

(Misty Foley) #41

I was having this exact same conversation with my husband today. I told him How grateful I am that I was strict keto for the 1st 6 months because now as long as I only try 1 new thing at a time I can now tell how I react to it and before I never would have noticed the difference because I was at a point where everything seemed to cause me digestive issues and I just felt horrible all the time.

That’s great, Misty!

Time sure makes keto easier.

I wish I were that lucky! I just address my former food cravings by staying sated on fatty foods - bacon, brisket, ribeye, hamburger, etc. I have been known to go to Mission BBQ, buy 4 lbs of brisket and sweet talk the cutter into also giving me 6 lbs of the fat cap they trim off and throw away :open_mouth: I enjoyed that fat more than the brisket…

Now THAT is livin’ the HIGH LIFE

(high fat, I mean)

I’m not sure what ‘normal’ means, heh… but I did find this nugget in my Promethease report:

Thanks for posting this. I used another service, but the snpedia links are good for any service.

Also remember genes can get turned off and on, so your fate is not sealed

It is just good to be knowledgable.

I concur, and I’ve read Dirty Genes, but I’ve found it helpful to know if you’re about to either coast downhill, or be in for an uphill struggle. I’m firmly in the camp of ‘know everything, even the grim stuff’ because then I can prepare my mindset. I hate being caught mentally with my pants down, so to speak.

Okay, well first of all, let me explain to you what I mean by “normal people”. I mean, people who have a certain amount of self control. People who have some balance in there life. People who are able to juggle a bunch of different things around in there mind, and practice a little of this, and a little of that, but staying pretty moderate about it.

Then you have the oddballs like me who just fixate on one thing, and throw everything else (maybe even some important stuff too) right out the window ! To say I have good focus would be an understatement. It would be more accurate today, I have a hard time focusing
on anything else.

But hey now, about that chart you posted, I’m definitely in the “have to diet strictly, and workout like a freaking madman” group, to get in really good shape… I know this, because I’ve been there, and trying to back there again.

The diet strictly part? Yup. I have to buckle down. For a long time i was one of those ppl that trained alot but never looked it. With my hyperfocus on keto, ppl now think i am a personal trainer!
