Keto Mojo and reading

#1

Hello,

I have a question in regards to the Keto Mojo. I just did use the Keto breath analyzer and was always in the nutritional ketosis range. Since I have switched to the Keto Mojo, my range upon testing is 0.7 to 0.9. I am very strict with my low carb, and also do 24 hour fasts 3 x a week. This morning I had a heck of a HIIT workout and when I tested after the workout, and fasted, my ketone were 0.7.

Any insight?

Thanks
Maya

Hi Maya!

I don’t know if this is the accurate answer for you, but since becoming fat-adapted I’ve noticed an opposite trend from previously. Previously, while in the early stages of keto, my post-exercise blood glucose would be lower and ketones would be higher. Now it’s the opposite and it has helped me to read about adaptive glucose sparing (also called physiologic insulin resistance, you can google either one for some explanations). It’s possible this is what’s happening for you as well, your muscles could be preferentially taking up circulating ketones during exercise, thus sparing glucose for vital functions.

Hope that helps!

My quick thought is that they aren’t measuring the same thing. To me, it’s like using 2 body-fat scales…they may read different, so it’s best to start doing regular/consistent measurements with the Keto Mojo to establish a new baseline with that tool. I like my Keto Mojo alot.

That suggests you’re using the ketones as quickly as you can make them  If you want to see the “fumes from the factory”, so to speak, then use the breath analyser. Your blood stores are in flux, and getting used rapidly, particularly if you’re active and fasted! What do you think’s more likely after a fasted HIIT workout? that the BHOB is lying around in your bloodstream doing nothing, or is being used as quickly as it’s released?
