Keto meal plans

(Susanna) #1

I have a brain tumor (low grade astrocytoma) and have been put on keto diet (in addition to chemo and radiation.) Have been on it for 8 months. Have recently been having trouble thinking of what to eat besides three or four meals which obviously am extremely sick of. I know there are plenty of options but a side effect of having the brain tumor is that nothing occurs to me. Blank mind. So I was thinking I should put together weekly meal plans to make it easier. Do any of you do that? And if so, are there particular meal plans you like?

That sounds like good idea. I noticed on Ketokate.com she had a 28 day meal plan for about $20???

Best Wishes and good health👍

I do meal plans when things get stressful.

Have you tried https://www.dietdoctor.com? They have free meal plans that are fairly simple – with recipes.

Also, I should add that a lot of the recipes taste really good!

I second dietdoctor.com, excellent resource for those starting out, or who just don’t want to think. Even includes detailed shopping lists.

I Breathe I’m Hungry has awesome recipes plus some meal plans. Here’s the link for her meal plans, but wander around the site and look at recipes.

Just looking at some of the great recipes on this and other sites may give you some good ideas.

Prior to keto my wife and I would use a meal planning services called The Fresh 20 and did the paleo meal plan. It provides 5 recipes, the shopping list, and prep. The meal plan is for 4 people but the serving sizes are huge and feeds our family of 3 (one being an 18 year old boy) and we have enough leftovers to take to lunch. When my wife decided to join me by switching to keto eating, we use the same service but ketofy the recipes. We will substitute or omit for items like high carb veggies, fruits, and natural sweetners like honey. We love this plan as the meals are always changing and it simplifies dinner since we get home late from work due to a 1.5 hour commute.

I have since found another well thought out meal plan as well here. http://www.ibreatheimhungry.com/menu-plans-new It provides breakfast, lunch, and dinner for all days of the week. They also provide the shopping list and some meal prep.

I use their rolls as sides. Just one fills you up!

They do look delicious. That is what I miss most. Not sweets, but bread. Thanks…S

Dear Gatita, just want to tell you that we had the Mexican casserole from the diet doctor top 30 meals and it was a huge hit, not only with me but my sons (who grabbed some tortillas and made burritos with it.) Am now looking forward (a new concept) to my next meal! Thank you so much for the diet doctor tip. S
