Keto Levels high

(Chris Chunn) #1

I have been in ketosis for six weeks, I am in the range of 5.5 to 6 on my ketone levels everday is this normal. I have temporarily come out of ketosis two times and within 24 hours I was back at 5.5 or 6 range.

Good ketone levels can vary from person to person. I get kind of sick when I go past 2.0 but I feel amazing at 1.5-2.

How are you feeling?

What are you using to measure ketone levels?

I’m feeling good, I am going down in weight and my blood sugar is down about 80 points,

The quick return back into keto is that a good thing

I’m using urine sticks and breathalyzer

Urine sticks are not accurate. I’m not familiar with breathalyzers but I wouldn’t worry about it.

Thanks

Are you taking a ketone supplement? That’ll give you high numbers.

Otherwise take the numbers from the breathalizer with a grain of salt.

And pea stix are not accurate, just a rough guide. When you get keto adapted, after a few weeks or months, they will most likely stop showing any reading at all.

Is it 5 or 0.5 mM we’re talking about? 0.5 is the expected value but even 5 is not impossible or unheard of. 10 mM is considered dangerous.

If you really reckon that device is accurate and it’s 5 not 0.5 mM we’re talking then get a pathology test to you can really be sure.

The time of day is also important. On day I had 0.4mM at 10am but 1.3 at 10pm.

The breathalyzer registers 1.3 I do 1.3x10 dividend answer by 2 is this right

Sorry, I’m not sure where the x10 divided by 2 is coming from. Is that in the manual or something? Otherwise 1.3 mM sounds spot on.

The only time you ever need to be worried about your ketone levels being too high is when you’re a type 1 diabetic and you’re at risk of ketoacidosis.
