That’s so scary there should be a menacing soundtrack. I couldn’t even read it without just peeking through my hands over my face! Good luck. maybe just create a diversion when it’s your turn to order….?
Like yell, SHARK! or something.
I don’t think yelling CARBS! Would be as effective.
But, hilarious.
Now that I think about it, I vote for cringing in horror and screaming CARBS!
Please report back. And good luck.

I’m not sure what you want us to say? It’s not a place I would choose to eat and if I was for some stupid reason forced to do so, I would skip the starter & desert and order the biggest steak on offer with nothing but a side of salad.

Well, you can look at this three ways:

  1. If you are the type that can stray from keto and jump right back on the wagon the next day, have fun and enjoy. One meal is not going to kill you.

  2. If you are the kind of person that will go off the rails if you stray and your partner is supportive of your woe, I would requested a different restaurant.

  3. Go to the restaurant and just pick through the food and keep it as keto as possible.

I’ll be curious to know how it goes.

Aah, how I miss a good English restaurant!!
It’s probably going to cost you an arm and a leg, which it seems like is going to be as close to carnivore as you are going to get!!:leg::leg:

On the plus side, Miller and Carter do great steaks (least, they do over here).

When I went for a birthday meal several years back, I just had a massive steak and an alcoholic drink for dessert.

The starters seem pretty ok for keto - certainly for a keto ‘once a year event’. Personally, I’d avoid the dessert - unless, as VE says, you’re the type who can indulge and jump straight back on the wagon with no problems the next meal.

Hope you enjoy it!

These aren’t bad. Just don’t eat the breads.

At some point, we have to live in the real world. My hardest is going on vacation. I tend to get a lot of salads as substitutions for potatoes, typically. While too many salads and I don’t get along, it’s really about the only substitution most places will do.

I typically don’t order fish as an entree, as then I’m starving afterwards. I do pick up extra meat to eat at home, as I’m almost always hungry after eating out.

For desserts, sometimes I’ll have cheesecake. Sometimes, those are not very sweet, though most times they are too sweet. If they are just plain, it’s not too bad of a carb hit.

Let us know how it goes/went.

Thanks for all the help
I managed to get my partner to share the camembert with me but it came with bread to dunk, so I had a couple, naught I know, then I had the ribeye steak with a side salad and then I opted for the profiteroles. I was dreading this morning, I have stalled on keto for about 4 weeks which i wasnt bothered about as i was still on ketosis, i got weighed this morning and I lost a 1lb, I cant believe it, however back on the keto wagon now

Sometimes you just have to let yourself relax and have fun, the important thing is to make it your choice to do so as that way you are still in control rather than allowing food / cravings to control you. See it as a treat rather than a cheat as that shifts the mindset and helps prevent the downward spiral of guilt and negativity that often follows these decisions for some people.

For me, it’s a success if I can do it without bingeing on carbs as a result. The problem is that, for me, carbs often act the way alcohol acts for an alcoholic, and I am scared that a little bit might lead to a whole lot more.

I’ve seen alcoholics take a sip of wine and be fine—until the following day, when they got drunk.

Stop talking about me! LOL (hic)

I don’t think any food is bad unless you steal it from a starving orphan…that being said, everyone probably responds to eating heavy carbohydrate foods in their own unique way. I hope you had a good time whatever you ate!
