Hey all. So I started keto for mental health benefits as well as the mental clarity. I have been suffering from extreme brain fog for the last 3 or 4 years. With this comes lack of motivation, poor concentration and memory, fatigue, forgetfulness, and I feel distant from myself or family most days. Like very dissociated with myself. I haven’t been myself in years and am feeling hopeless. I lasted a month on keto and recently slipped. During that month I felt pretty much the same the entire time. Just wondering if anyone is dealing with something similar to me and has had any success with curing brain fog with keto? Maybe I wasn’t fat adapted yet?

Hi Jeffrey. Brain fog can be caused by a lot of things and with your history I’d ask if you’re taking medications that could cause it, what kind of work do you do (environmental hazards), do you have medical conditions that could cause it, mental health issues that cause it, etc.
Keto can be great for a bunch of reasons and many people clearing their bodies of processed and high sugar foods do feel brain fog lift but it may be more of a challenge if you have underlying issues contributing.
I had brain fog for a long time and found out I was anemic. Keto wouldn’t have changed that, I needed medical intervention.
Anyway, we’re happy to help you try keto again. Some people take months to become fat adapted.
