Keto Food Sharing is Caring :)

LoL, just a bit of humor today, but wife and I had ribs with low carb bbq, and we split a sweet potato with Kerry gold butter and cinnamon on it. Was that too many carbs that night, apparently not, still work up a pound lighter. It is awesome having the support of your spouse if you can eating the same as you. It’s a tough thing to cut a sweet potato in two pieces and leave half in fridge for later.

Had simular food issues, when I used to be a carb-aholic and go to subway of course I’m getting the 12 inch sub, it’s the best value. No I’m not only going to eat half, what am I a sissy? LoL. Anyway, this post is going all over the place and maybe I’ve just not had enough coffee this morning and don’t realize that yet.

I think that if eating half a sweet potato helps keep you working towards eliminating carbs then it’s good. Explore this forum and the internet for other delicious foods that you can start to experiment with to discover that you don’t actually need the sweet potato to feel fulfilled :heart: good luck!

@LindsaySue

I don’t intend to eliminate carbs. I do have some carbs, and don’t see anything wrong with a sweet potato now and then they are delicious. It will always be part of my keto meals just as a once in a blue moon type of deal. I was just being funny, maybe poorly about my wife and I sharing one. Anyway, thanks for the support.

I guess some people don’t think sweet potatos are keto, don’t know if that is what you were saying there. But to me there are many foods that aren’t recommended for keto, but as long as my ketones are still good and my overall carbs don’t go over X amount then that’s the beauty of keto.

You do you! There’s no keto rulebook.

pulls out the keto rulebook Just kidding. I do my own thing :slight_smile: Are you eliminating carbs in your keto journey? I think I could, I got good discipline, but I dont think it’s necessary. I know some are doing the zero carb carnivore style with good results. I think I’m more likely to get my family onboard by doing low carb version of keto than zero carb carnivore though. Maybe someday I’ll try it, never thought I would fast before either, but I’ve since done extended fasts, OMAD, and intermittent fasting. Which out of those I prefer intermittent fasting. I drink black coffee for my breakfast. Most importantly I listen to the dudes. :smile:

I’ve been avoiding bread, rice, and pasta for a long time. All that was easy to quit, except for pasta. I lost 20 lbs from my high last summer doing CICO and 60min+ biking and swimming every day. Then winter came and I’m in school and I stopped counting calories and exercising and gained 10 of it back eating an almost vegetarian diet with small amounts of meat and cheese. Not sure what my carb count was daily but I was eating a lot of sweet potatoes, beets, and other veg. Probably low fat. But I was experiencing pre-diabetes symptoms: shaky muscles after 2 hours not eating, shaky muscles after eating high carb junky meals, and hanger ohhh the hanger. Bless my bf for putting up with me because it was bad getting worse.

So when I started listening to the podcast, really, the starchy veg were the only things I needed to drop. What I really needed to do was probably eat more, and up the fat.

I’m down 10lbs, 2" in 5 weeks so I’m slow but steady and NO HANGER. So I’m not missing the starchy veg myself, I’m so happy I’m allowed to eat all the cheese and bacon and fried chicken I could eat. I haven’t had this healthy (read not guilty and shame ridden) relationship with food in well… Since I was a young child really.

We all have our things that make this WOE work for us and I support you and your sweet potato eating!
