Keto food/bakery delivery shops?

(Erin ) #1

Hi sorry if this is in the wrong section. I really need some good online delivery services if anyone knows any? I’m looking more for breads/pizza crusts, bagels etc. This is the stuff I don’t have time to make.

Has anyone tried keto fridge? They did have some bread but I don’t see it anymore.

What about this company called unrefinedbakery.com
They have breads, cupcakes, muffins etc.

I’m just afraid of what might be hidden in the Ingredients Right?

If anyone can put some good suggestions of places that ship please do!! I don’t have time to make all of this stuff anymore plus I live in an area that literally has NO health food type shops. I have to drive a good hour to go to a whole foods or Trader Joe’s. I am struggling ugh!

Yikes @StarRRT

I wouldn’t use any, I know you don’t have time. But from what I’ve heard they are usually over priced, taste like crap and as you said have hidden ingredients that you don’t want.

Best thing to do if you can is to totally do away with wheat and trying to imitate it. Some people do a pretty good job using crushed pork rines to imitate wheat, but I think the sooner you can get away from it the healthier you get.

I’ve gotten mine from Netrition, both the ThinSlim and Great Low Carb Bread Company brands. I only buy them from time to time for the convenience, because of the cost. One thing I do buy regularly is the Smart Cakes. But, again, expensive.

For a bread and pizza crust substitute, I usually get the Joseph’s Lavash Bread (similar to a low carb tortilla). I used to get it from Netrition until the local Walmart started carrying it at a lower cost.

The single serve microwave breads and muffins only take a few minutes…

This company makes my favorite Keto-friendly bread, some grocery stores carry it for much lower prices than what I’ve seen on Amazon, but I assume there are other places online to buy it:

When the schedule gets tight, I occasionally buy from Netrition. Just got some onion bagels and sesame seed bagels by the Great Low Carb Bread Company, which I like barely warmed (I tried toasting them split, but they became hard as a rock). For the sesame bagels:
Ingredients: Water, Vital Wheat Gluten, Almond Flour, Flax Seed Meal, Oat Fiber, Wheat Protein Isolate, Modified Wheat Starch, Virgin Olive Oil, Yeast, Calcium Propionate, Enzyme, Vinegar, Sesame Seeds, Salt, Stevia.

I’ve also tried Chompies Carbs Not! High Protein Bread, with sesame seeds, which was nice.

For hamburger buns, I really like SmartBuns, from Smart Baking Company: https://service.netrition.com/smart-baking-smartbun.html

And I also like the Zero Carb Bread from ThinSlim Foods: https://service.netrition.com/thinslim_foods_bread.html

Like OgreZed wrote, they are fairly expensive, so these are an occasional treat for variety. Not necessary, for sure. But kinda fun once in awhile.

I won some of those Smart Buns and they are so good! I won’t use them a lot - but so nice to have that option.

Thanks everyone!!

Well I really need some form of bread for sandwiches for my son. I’m trying to get him to follow this also. He needs to loose some weight but obviously it’s much harder for kids. And we all have gluten allergies so this should help

Well, for this I’m a fan of online shopping. It’s an interesting time as keto is starting to multiply - new producers are starting sell some really tasty food for delivery!

Simple Mills (almond flour based) has an artisanal foccacia-type bread mix that’s super quick to make - and you can bake small flat rounds to make sandwich-viable bready discs. :sandwich:

Their pizza crust mix is excellent too! Bakes amazing on a cookie sheet or round aluminum pizza pans. :pizza:

I buy them on Amazon - and do searches where I compare lowest price deals and often score discounted 3packs or add-on specials! In the Amazon searches there’s a tab window in the upper right where you can select ‘lowest to highest price’ and that helps me a lot.

Super yummy!

Someday I want to find the time & energy to make Dr. Sarah Myhill’s famous flaxseed loaves…! Flaxseed is called Linseed in Britain. I bought a digital scale in prep for it, but that’s about it so far.

Sukrin makes a bread mix that is comparable to Dr. Myhill’s recipe - but is way tooooooo expeeeeensive on Amazon, but expecting that price will go down.

Awesome!

They ship on rotationary schedules; I exchanged emails with the owner about this a while back!

Made Myhill’s flaxseed loaf today because I was excited about it and I had all the ingredients. Followed her recipe to the letter…and it was a disaster.

I encountered the exact same problem that a lot of people in her Youtube comments encountered. A rock hard loaf that was wet and uncooked in the middle, and it tasted fishy.

Won’t be trying that one again…and saying that, I’ve successfully made crackers with linseed/flaxseed in the past and even when done correctly it isn’t the best taste around. LSA, almond flour, coconut flour, all seem miles ahead when it comes to taste compared to flaxseed.

Oh well, on to the next recipe.

Yikes! Fishy taste would indicate rancid or semi-rancid fats due to long storage or oxidation - tragically this is a common problem with flaxseed/linseed sold by some suppliers and in some store bulk sections. I know it’s a huge problem in the U.S.

I really like the taste of fresh flaxseeds/linseeds - and find Flackers rather delish (the Savory flavor) - but yeah, I’ve experienced spoiled seeds in the distant past, and I hated the taste.

The other factor is the oven temperature and altitude. I’m still fascinated with her recipe and hopeful…

Onwards!

Those look so tasty! The price though, waaaaah! But… they store in the freezer for up to 6 months - will keep these in mind for down the road, if I convince myself that I’d rather pay someone else to make the breads (though I feel I should make them myself ofc, even though my circumstances are not conducive to concentrating on baking).
