Keto flu help

(Nicole Lawrence) #1

I started Keto on the 17th. Both yesterday and today my stomach is painfully full of gas. I barely was able to eat yesterday and today anything I do eat causes severe stomach pain. I really don’t want to give up but I’m concerned.

We will be better able to advise if you give more details, like what you’ve actually been eating?

Yesterday I had a boiled egg and coffee w butter for breakfast. Lunch was steak, sautéed mushrooms and salad w Caesar. No dinner, pain was intense. Today I again had an egg and coffee and bloating, gas, pain became more severe. I ate collard greens and ham for dinner

(Allie) #4

Were you eating eggs before keto?

Could be coincidence in timing. Perhaps a stomach bug. My rule of thumb is that if my stomach doesn’t want food, I don’t force it to have any. Drink some tea, peppermint, ginger and fennel are all good for the gut. Slippery elm bark is soothing though slimy to eat…better mixed into something.

Not frequently but yes

I’m starting to wonder the same.

On rhe plus side, if you’re being forced to fast you’ll jump into nice deep ketosis quickly. Make sure you stay hydrated with tea and lots of water. Also take some potassium and salt to keep your lytes up.

Not sure
But are you eating enough food?
Or not enough fat?
Appears rather low for intake

I was having a hard time the first 2 days eating enough. I’ve since gotten better. I still get stomach gas pains after eating but it’s gotten MUCH better.

Think on this, much of the gas you are experiencing is a die off of flora and yeast that can no longer sustain within your body - because the carbs are gone.

Allow your body to heal.

Oh! That makes so much sense.
