Keto flu? Green snot

(Andrea) #1

So I’ve read up on everything and have of course heard of keto flu and have definitely experienced some of the symptoms. I seem to have gotten a cold along the way. I just started this week and it seems this cold came out of nowhere and hit hard. Only 2 days into the cold and blowing green snot. This is not a normal cold at all! Could it be keto flu? I feel like ketosis somehow kicked free a virus that was dormant. What are your thoughts?

You have healthy snot , the best of snot!

Reference:
“…When you get sick, your mucus eventually starts to thicken. … Green mucus is a sign that your body’s immune system is at work. The color comes from a type of infection-fighting white blood cell. “With cold or flu, mucus starts clear, then begins to darken as it gets thicker," …” …More

Ok… but that doesn’t really answer my question.

It’s not a symptom of keto flu. Keto flu is not a disease or a virus, it’s typically an electrolyte imbalance. You won’t get “sick” and you won’t be contagious.

It was more of wondering whether I had weakened my immune system by going full-blown and not easing into a keto diet. I was already doing intermittent fasting and then I decided to go to a ketogenic intermittent fasting diet. I was told that I shocked my system and I wondered if that would have affected my immune system causing me to get sick easier.
