Hello, Me and My husband doing keto for a while. We want to see a doctor keto friendly. Our current doctors are not really advertising keto, but we like doing it so. If you know any doctor in Atlanta keto-friendly, can you share their names with me?
Keto Doctor in Atlanta
Most aren’t going to advertise that way, and many aren’t going to come out and say it, but look for functional med docs, and look into DO’s over MD’s, as they pretty much practice like Functional med docs by design and are much more open to all low carb eating.
But ultimately, your PCP does near nothing anyways, really doesn’t matter in most cases whether they like how you eat or not, only that you look good on paper. Even in the case of doc’s being cool with Keto (mines all about it) don’t expect that do mean that they’d be OK with a cholesterol at 350 either, so really makes no difference.
Many people just don’t chose to have a PCP anymore because of stuff like that, I didn’t for years, but came across the place I found and saw how they were so figured why not.
Here are some listings from a Web site I heard about. Don’t know how up to date the site is, but see if anything looks useful: https://www.ketogenicdocs.com/?tag=georgia
I am lucky that my doc (Kansas) has come to appreciate keto, but I doubt he advertises that.
However, when I see other doctors, I simply say I do not eat sugar or processed food. No one argues with that.
Plus, the minute most doctors hear that you are keto or carnivore, they automatically assume any health issues are due to that… and they will look no further.
They are hammers and keto is the nail.
Yeah, I discussed this with a functional medicine doctor, and he still recommended having a general practitioner. Just not happy with mine, as she ordered blood tests and didn’t get AST and ALT (two markers of liver function) tested. Ugh. Luckily, I got GGT tested (another liver marker) paid by myself, and it was low. But I wouldn’t mind seeing AST and ALT too, as they are supposedly markers of heart stress/health too.
Agreed, mine always does a CMP at every yearly as well as NMR’s. She’s an MD, but she’s Indian so she practices like a DO/Functional. Shouldn’t be this hard to get answers.
Luckily we have PrivateMDLabs! Plus a handful of others.
If you didn’t use them when you did your last one I can give you my link which takes some money off, don’t think it works when you’re not new to them though.
