Keto diet with high blood pressure on losartan 100mg

Can someone with experience on Keto diet while taking losartan share some light? What do you drink to keep your electrolytes up? Because magnesium and potassium mix with pink salt are not working for me while taking losartan. And now I am afraid to take any of it.

Hello, these past few days my blood pressure have been high (173/100-119 this morning)

I had a lot of energy just few weeks ago and now I’m like a zombie. I started keto diet around January of this year(2022) I have lost about 28 lbs my goal was to lose weight (to 180) and get off bp med eventually but now I don’t know if I should continue or get out. I really want to stay in keto but it seem like every time I try to drink electrolytes it made me feel really sick.

I’ve heard you should not take potassium sup if you’re on losartan, what worked for you?

Welcome. I’m fairly certain you’ve come to the right place. Others will have similar experiences and some insight for you.

Usually a ketogenic diet lowers blood pressure, so that people’s blood-pressure medications need to be reduced. This happens because lowering serum insulin stops it from interfering with the production of nitric oxide, which the body uses to cause arterial walls to relax. If your blood pressure is that high on a ketogenic diet, then something is wrong, and you should see your doctor as soon as possible.

How does your keto diet compare to your pre-keto diet? Are you taking in more sodium? You might not need to drink supplemental electrolytes if you are eating things like cured meats and are adding salt to foods.

I am taking more salt than before keto because I was feeling fatigues.

I have muscles cramps and I’m afraid to add any supplements to my drink. Been drinking a lot of water but I believe I haven’t been drinking enough though. Been peeing a lot also

How do you guys stay hydrated while taking in all the electrolytes If you’re taking Losartan Potassium

Thank you

That is a tough one, because that drug can cause high potassium. I’d start with higher salt intake, but see what happens. Also, you might want to ask your doctor if you can reduce the dosage, though it’s odd you’re getting higher blood pressure.

If you do take salt, what happens to your blood pressure?
