Keto Diet - Stalling?

(M) #1

Hello everyone, 5th week on Keto, going well, 16 lbs lost. My concern is that for like about 2 weeks there has been no change in weight loss. I’ve been hovering at the same place, even though I watch the macros carefully (eating 2500 calories – 213 g fat, 32 g carb, 132 g protein per body overview suggestion) and also incorporated more cardio to about 4-5 times a week as well as doing Intermittent Fasting a few times a week, making sure I get my full caloric intake in the time I am supposed to eat.

Am I doing something wrong? Should I adjust my macros? Or what should I change?

Around weeks 3-6 is when many people’s weight loss temporarily stalls. Your body has shed water weight and is now focusing its efforts on becoming fat adapted. Just KCKO and the weight loss should pick back up soon!

I always suggest changing things up… see if anything changes. It would also,be helpful to have more info about you. Like height, weight, and what you eat in a day.

PISS Period… Post induction stall syndrome.

You’re doing well, what was your starting weight?
You’re 5 weeks in meaning you aren’t adapted yet.
It typically takes 6-8 weeks to reach adaption with no metabolic damage.
Whilst your body is making ketones, it still doesn’t know how to use them effectively.
We all lose weight in the beginning and then that stops or slows down until you reach adaption because that’s where the magic happens, where people start experimenting with fasting and extended fasting and eating one meal a day etc.
Weight loss is not linear, it goes up and down and sometimes it stays the same for a long time. There are many other metabolic changes happening within your body. It’s not a quick process , you must be patient.

One almost surefire way to break a stall is via fasting. The dosage can range from TRE to block fasting. You’ll need to experiment to determine the right dosage for you.
