Can someone please recommend me a keto diet plan considering the desi eating culture? I am ok with quitting roti and rice at all.

You may get some ideas from watching Headbangers Kitchen on you tube

Check headbangers kitchen out on youtube. Keto recipes available on the net is mostly suited to a westerners diet so you will have to improvise for an indian palate. It takes more effort I think. Even some veggie curries like dhaal, baingan is out. No Samosas, biryanis, all take away curries you will have to stop as dont know which have sugar or not into them etc. And ofcourse if you muslim for cultural reasons bacon which seems to be a staple for many on this forum is out as well. Alot of ketorecipes have bacon in them. But if you research check out headbanger’s as a starter. I think he said he is releasing a book soon.

“Curry” is fairly easy to make keto on your own.

Blend ginger, garlic, 2 Serranos, tomatoes, tomato paste, onion

Turmeric, cumin, cardamom, cinnamon, coriander

Saute chicken thighs, lamb, fish/shrimp etc. in butter/ghee/coconut oil etc.

Add coconut milk and vegetables of your choice: spinach, chard etc.

I’ll second Headbangers kitchen, that guy makes awesome stuff! But just FYI, assuming people in the US / North America out number the Europeans here, In the States we don’t consider Indian/Pakistani/Bangladesh people as Asians (ya, I know) so the title MAY limit your results.

Of course everyone knows that Indians/Pakistani/Bangladesh people are Asians, but @lfod14 is right–in North America when we think of “Asians” we think East Asian (Japanese, Chinese, Korean). This has tripped me up several times when I read novels set in England. I’m not familiar with the term “Desi.” Some people, but not all, would understand “South Asian”; you’re probably better off spelling it out: Indian, Pakistani, etc.

My boyfriend loves curry, and I make a lot of curried beef and so on. I also love this recipe:

On the same website you might be able to find lots of recipes for chicken, lamb, etc. You might have to alter or avoid some recipes that call for flour, potatoes, daal, etc., but a quick glance indicates that many of these recipes are keto friendly:

Good luck finding the information you need.

Welcome Hassaan_Khan. There’s a facebook group for Desi Keto recipes:

and if you Google “Keto for Desi”, you will see there’s a lot of information and ideas out there and by the looks of it, Desi keto food looks amazing.

If you’re already cooking Indian food then you just need to familiarize yourself with the acceptable keto ingredients and go from there. You may find helpful information just reading keto recipes for the insights into what others have discovered as far as keto substitutes (radish or cauliflower instead of potatoes or rice). Sabji is a favorite of mine and a great fish side. I have embraced the challenge of cooking keto and still eating foods that I loved. I cooked professionally most of my life and see it as cooking serving my needs and lifestyle. We all have left behind foods we never thought we’d do without. We’re also leaving behind our ill health :sunglasses:

PS. Maybe you will pioneer the keto dhosa! If you do message me!
