Keto Con rip off

They sent me a email on there going to cancel June. They said they were going to try to move it to another date.If not then you get a 2021 ticket. They are going to refuse to give money back.Thats called stealing.I am not able to just go when ever.I have responsibilities.I planned this months out.If canceled they need to give our money back.If not we each need to contact the Attorney General of each of our state and file charges to give back our hard earned money. Our contract was we loose our money if we do not use the ticket bought for June.I want my money if not June then my contract is Void.

Strange that they haven’t announced the cancellation on their website and are still selling tickets. You’d think ticket sales would be the first thing they’d disable, or at least throw up a pop up window indicating that the conference is postponed, date undetermined and what buying a ticket would mean. But I was able to get all the way through to payment. Of course I cancelled the transaction- but I’m curious. If I were to buy a ticket today, would I get an email about the postponement only after they got my money?

I am learning this bunch is money hungry. The more it learn the more I know they are scam artist. They know they can steal money and get away with it.They have not been honest from the start. There rolling in money they know they can keep and no one is standing up to these con artist.I know if they cancel I will fight to get my money back.Your lucky one not buying a ticket.Yes I am angry I have a right to be.

It sounds like they have already used some or all of the funds related to ticket sales. If a credit card was used to purchase you may have another way to get you money back. To still be accepting ticket purchases is a major red flag. You have to ask “who is minding the store?”

Sorry man, just went onto the website to “purchase” tickets and it’s made plain as day in the terms and forces you to agree to purchase. You can’t agree to that to purchase tickets, then say their stealing and not being honest from the start. It’s a condition you agreed to. Your bank MAY pull it back for you if they agree it’s wrong regardless of the terms with KetoCon but if they don’t, again, you agreed to it. If you’re going to try to force your money back you better get on it sooner than later when everybody is trying.

Just because it says that plain as day still does not mean it is ethical. In my opinion if the event is canceled months in advance by event staff then a full refund is warranted. To take that warning at face value and to an extreme I could post any event or product (lets use hand sanitizer) after orders come I can just cancel. My only obligation is to deposit the money and mark the order as cancelled because the buyer agreed to “my terms” plain as day.

The contract is for June Keto Con once you break that contract you need to redeem money and yes there being crooks by trying to use it or loose it clause it applies to a June meeting nowhere does it say I agree to them moving dates or just keeping the money

Whether it’s ethical or not is completely besides the point. It was a known term, that was agreed to.

Just because it is in the terms this does not absolve the issuer if the action is blatantly unethical. Of course this would probably require legal action to settle and each side would need to evaluate their position before deciding whether to pursue or resist.

There’s nothing to absolve. Business, ethics, and law don’t always coincide. There’s no shortage of unethical businesses out there. Doesn’t mean their doing anything illegal or that they can be compelled to do anything by force in many cases. People need to have the responsibility to not deal with companies that start off right up front in your face with bs like this one did and walk away. That’s how the free market works. Company A sucks, so I give my money to company B. When somebody is legitimately scammed, or a victim of a bait and switch is a different situation.
