Keto comfort foods

I have ulcerative colitis and long story short I had an episode last night. I have fasted today and I’m scared to eat anything. Any suggestions on soft non-cruciferous vegetables, non-fiber foods that won’t hurt my stomach. Also I am beginning to wonder if Splenda, Stevia, etc. are hurting my stomach as well. Any advice would be great. Thank you in advance!

You might try eliminating all carbohydrate from your diet for a week or two. Stick to fatty meat and poultry, possibly eggs, possibly dairy (if you don’t react to it). Many people on these forums with bowel issues say that they do far better with no fiber, though a few do still find fiber helpful. The oxalates in many leafy greens, particularly kale and spinach, will only exacerbate your problem.

I also wonder, since stomach ulcers are a bacterial infection, it a good round of an antibiotic might help with a colon ulcer as well. You might ask your physician.

Poor you, I do wish you well. :relieved:.
I would advise you to lay off any vegetables for now. Try some soft scrambled egg, or an omlette. Otherwise maybe make a well pureed soup of cauliflower and cheese.
Just suggestions from a previous IBS sufferer. Obviously you will know your body best.

Thank you guys! It’s a very slippery slope I’m on because I’m 13 pounds away from goal weight and wanting to stay healthy. The reason I eat the vegetables is because I feel like I need the vegetables, but I literally just cannot stomach them apparently. I try to avoid antibiotics because I have gotten C-diff before which landed me in the hospital for a week. The antibiotic basically cleaned out all of my good bacteria. Also, I have ulcerative colitis which is different than having a stomach ulcer.

I have gone from having to have vegetables every meal, thinking they were healthy, to not having them at many meals. I think an argument can be made that vegetables are bad for you. The less vegetables I eat, the more I think this might be true. (I still eat some, though, just not many.)

So, I say stick more to meat for a while to see if that helps.

Have you tried making this yogurt?

I made this 5-6 times, and I did not have any beneficial effect, but I also do not have ulcerative colitis. There is some evidence L reuteri might help your condition.

I was also going to suggest yogurt. Fage 5% is super filling and 7 g carbs per serving, if you can fit it into your macros.

Try not to throw antibiotics into your system. Those proscription drug kill all…not just the bad bacteria.

Try a teaspoon of Colloidal sIlver a couple times a day for a couple days…see if that settles it all down.

I use a new product called Swerve. Is it Erythritol with a plant based addition…it is easier on the stomach. Some people have trouble withErythritol, but much less with this mixture of Erythritol. It is zero carbs because your body cannot absorb it.
