Keto Cocoa?

Has anyone tried this product? Any results to share?

I haven’t seen this before. I live in a cold part of the country and would love to have hot chocolate again. Have you tried it?

(Stephanie Sablich) #3

It is coming in the mail today; I’ll give it a try (likely over the weekend) and post an update!

#4

I’m curious as well. I miss my Starbucks hot chocolate run.

I love it! Best if you have a some way to mix it thoroughly. I use one of those Electric Milk Frothers I got on Amazon for $9.99, add some Heavy Whipping Cream and it tastes better than some hot chocolates I have bought in coffee shops.

I’ll bet this product is rather pricey. Why not make your own?

Here’s what I do: in a straight sided canning jar I heat, in the microwave, about 8 oz. almond milk, a good pour of cream, one tablespoon of MCT oil (or coconut oil), a tablespoon of cocoa powder, a drop of vanilla extract, and sweetener to taste. Once hot, I use a stick blender to mix, so the oil will not separate. Another few seconds in the micro to bring the drink to my preferred temperature, and there you are.

Good to know. It’s pricey. Do you feel like it goes a long way?

(Stacy Blanchard) #8

Great tip. I’m going to try it today.

Um. Game changer. Thanks for the recipe.

@Stabla, it’s easy to make your own, I just had some. I combine 100 ml of heavy cream with 100 ml of almond milk and heat in the microwave till warm but not hot. Then I add sweetener to taste (about 1/2 tbsp of swerve is enough for me) and 1 tbsp of cocoa powder and mix well (I use a mini milk frother). Then microwave until your desired temp. top with whipped cream if feeling decadent!

Wouldn’t it be cheaper to just make your own hot cocoa and squirt some mct oil in it?

(Jane Reed) #12

Normally I make my cocoa without oil. When I’m feeling the need for more fat, then I add some butter and coconut oil. That’s bullet proof cocoa.

I make a dry mix of instant coffee and cocoa powder (Navitas) (roughly equal parts), add some cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice, and a dash of salt. Powdered sweetener to taste. When I want rich mocha, I nuke about a cup of water and pour it over a spoonful of this mix in a cup, stir, add HWC to taste (a lot), stir again, and drink. Sometimes I have to nuke it a bit more to bring it back up to heat. This is the best hot liquid I’ve ever drank!

I have this often after a meal to ā€˜eat fat to satiety’, as well has having an easy treat.

Don’t worry everyone, I had a gift certificate  I’ve not tried it yet, but I’ll let you all know!

Agree! I just made ā€œdrinking chocolateā€ today with coconut oil, HWC, cocoa powder, vanilla and sweetener. Yum!

It is pricey - but still much cheaper than my former Starbucks habit! The container has 20 servings to make 8oz - I sometimes make it a scoop and a half, add a good amount of HWC and make a good big mug. It keeps me satisfied for a long time.
