Keto budget

Hello I’ve been doing the keto diet for about a month now but I’m finding it can be somewhat expensive I know the smartest way is to buy in bulk like Costco products but I was wondering what do you guys usually spend on a monthly budget?

Family of 3 here - wife and I are on keto and 18yo step son isn’t. We spend approximately $100-$125 on groceries a week.

Ways to limit budget
Eggs - they are cheap and they are awesome
Seasonal Veggies - These are at their height of flavor and also at their lowest price. Win Win
Cheap Cuts of meat - Instead of reaching for ribeye, tenderloin, breast get the cheaper cuts. I like cooking with chuck steak and beef bottom round. Pork loin, pork shoulder instead of pork tenderloin. Whole chickens or chicken thighs instead of boneless, skinless chicken.
Where you shop matters - I have started shopping at Aldi’s and Lidls for a majority of my groceries. They have great prices on eggs, cheese, veggies, almonds, pork rinds and deli/cured meats. Items I can’t find there, I will go to Trader Joes or Krogers.

There is a whole category for how to do keto on a budget. Lots of great ideas there.

I married a woman whose father farms cattle but also keeps chicken and pigs. This might not be a practical approach for everyone, however.

Just the two of us, and usual spend is around $70, but only about 15 of that will be mine. Huge cans of mackerel and sardines at Dollar Tree are of course a , I don’t worry about the sauce they are in if they are cheap. I just wash it all off and fry them till crisp in some butter. My biggest spend weekly is avocados, so I’m getting a tree!

I raise my own eggs. I eat beef or chicken liver once a week (very cheap).
I don’t eat much meat, but I love spinach and keto mug bread using almond flour.

Got a pork tenderloin at Costco for 15 dollars. Cut it into thin pieces fried them in butter. Then dipped them in home made honey mustard or garlic maynaiose. Got a brick of cheese for 10 dollars at Costco. Then got 5 bags of frozen spinach at target for 88 cents. Put in lots of butter and salt in the spinach. My meals for the week where. Breakfast just coffee. Lunch pork and cheese. Dinner pork, mayo, spinach. Made 7 days of full meals. The cost was 30 dollars. If u need mayo and butter and mustard maybe 35 dollars. Can’t get much cheaper than that.
