What book(s) would you recommend on keto for beginners?
Keto book
I am fairly new to keto (3 months) so I’ll let more seasoned people weigh in, but I think your goals/interest in keto can help guide you to different resources.
“Keto clarity” by Jimmy Moore is a good overview, and I have really benefitted from “the obesity code” by Jason Fung since I first became interested in keto for weight loss goals.
Interested to hear what others suggest:)
Hi
What are you looking for? Explanation of the science or recipes or what? Just a FYI loads of free videos with Dr Phinney and Volek as they explain the science of low carb eating. Also Butter Bob Briggs all on YouTube. Dr Eric Berg is short and to the point. For a personal journey I recommend Keto Christina. Also the dudes have over 107 podcasts. Binge from beginning to end. I recommend to be wary of those who say if you don’t do things this way then you’re wrong. Or if you eat this or that you’re not keto. Basics 20 grams of carbs preferably from leafy greens and above ground veggies, moderate protein, and fat till you’re full. Those are the basics. But if you must have a book. Then the art and science of low carb living by Dr Phinney . The Obesity Code by Dr Jason Fung.
There’s a Wiki on this I believe, somewhere
Check the search option I guess …KETO recommended Books or something like that
I really enjoyed Romanian keto researcher Cristi Vlad’s “Ketone Power: Superfuel for Optimal Mental Health and Ultimate Physical Performance” (am fine with his ESL english in various parts) - as well as Phinney & Volek’s “Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living” - during my first few months keto I read both of them and I still return to them on a regular basis for continuing education and the great simple recipes.
Also films - The Magic Pill is excellent. It features Dr. Cate Shanahan MD, Nora Gelgaudus (author of Primal Fat Burner), Nina Teichholz (author of The Big Fat Surprise), Lierre Keith (author of The Vegetarian Myth: Food, Justice, and Sustainability), and many others - including a number of Aboriginal women - and inspires reading more authors’ books!
I’ve been keto for a couple years and just read “Keto” by Maria & Craig Emmerich and found lots of good info. They explain the science plus add a lot of practical advice for particular problems.
